Afsaneh Rahimian , PhD

Senior Consultant

Afsaneh is passionate about social justice and equity, with 25 years of practice evaluating community-based initiatives, strategies, systems, and programs that aim to address equity for underserved and culturally diverse populations. She uses qualitative research methods including ethnography, focus groups, and in-depth interviewing to supplement survey data and tell the stories of change in communities of color.

As a consultant, Afsaneh brings her experiences with community health, nonprofit management, evaluation consulting with nonprofits and foundations, and cultural competence from living and working cross-culturally in several countries. Before joining ORS, she served as the preventive Health Services Director at Sea Mar Community Health Centers and as research associate at Center for Community Health and Evaluation at Kaiser Permanente (formerly known as Group Health Research Institute). Before moving to Seattle, she served eight years as Research Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Public Health working with injection drug users in Chicago’s South and West sides. Afsaneh earned her Ph.D. from University of Southern California.
